Efficient Doctor Visits
Friday, April 4, 2008In todays 60 Second Housecall, Dr. Ken Davis asks some questions that can make your next doctors appointment or hospital stay go a little smoother.
Being a smart patient includes showing up on time for appointments, taking medications as prescribed and fully disclosing your history and habits to your physician. But theres more.
Fully describe your symptoms. The more specific you can be the better. Write down your symptoms, and when you are most bothered by them.
Identify all your medicines. Bring a list or the actual bottles with you, including over-the-counter medicines and supplements.
Make a list of your questions. This helps you be sure you have covered everything in an efficient amount of time.
Have a trusted friend or family member accompany you during the doctor visit. They may hear advice that you dont.
Understand when and how to contact your physician for any problems you might have before your next visit.
Following these steps will help you and your physician ensure you get the most from your visit.
