North Mississippi Medical Center’s academic reimbursement program allows employees to advance their education. An employee may apply for academic reimbursement after one year of full-time employment. With the appropriate prior approval, an employee may be reimbursed for academic course work.
The degree pursued must be a position that is projected in the Retention/Recruitment Trainer’s Plan. The number of tuition reimbursement positions for each year are determined by individual Department Directors and the Human Resources Vice President through the Retention/Recruitment Trainer’s Plan.
The amount payable per semester hour is limited to the tuition charged by in-state institutions of higher
learning. 100/200 level courses will be reimbursed at
the community college tuition rate and junior/senior/graduate level courses at the university rates.
Online courses are reimbursed at the in-state tuition
rate.
Employees must have one year full-time employment (2,000 hours) and achieve “meets requirements” status on Excel job performance. This must be maintained to retain ongoing eligibility. Exception: While on an approved educational leave of absence, employees must work a minimum of 40 hours per pay period to maintain eligibility.
Employees must be enrolled in courses toward an approved degree at an academically accredited institution.
Grades of “C” or better on undergraduate course work and a grade of “B” or better for graduate course work must be earned in order to be eligible for reimbursement.
Recipient of academic reimbursement agrees to work for NMMC for the following specified times:
A full-time employee with less than two years employment must work a minimum of six months after acquiring one degree before being eligible to apply for the next higher degree (i.e., ADN to BSN). Employees seeking graduate degrees will be evaluated on an individual basis.
Work assessment begins upon degree completion.
