Certified Athletic Trainers

Rhea Brown, MS, ATC

Brown joined the NMMC Sports Medicine Program in January 2008 and covers Tupelo Christian Preparatory School and Houlka High School. He received his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Mississippi State University and a master's degree in athletic training from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Before joining the NMMC staff, Brown had four years of ATC experience covering seven schools. He now covers Nettleton High School and Tupelo Christian Preparatory School.

Amy Dawson, ATC

Dawson earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training from Mars Hill College in North Carolina. In 2007, she graduated from Mississippi State University with a master's degree in food science, nutrition and health promotion and joined the NMMC Sports Medicine staff. She provides athletic training services to Booneville High School.

Hunter Dawson, MS, ATC

Dawson joined the NMMC Sports Medicine Program in July 2009. He received his bachelor's degree with a concentration in athletic training from Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., in 2007. He then proceeded to Troy University in Alabama where he served as a graduate assistant for the Trojan football team and intramural athletics. While at Troy University, he obtained his national certification and his master's degree in fitness and sport management with a concentration in athletic administration. He currently provides athletic training services for Baldwyn and Saltillo high schools.

Brandon Grecinger, ATC

Grecinger joined the NMMC Sports Medicine Program in August 2016. He received his bachelor's degree with a concentration in athletic training from Campbell University in 2013. He then proceeded to the University of Minnesota, where he received his master's degree in applied kinesiology in 2014. While in Minnesota, he worked with the Minnesota Wilderness hockey team for three seasons, winning one national championship. He currently provides athletic training services for Pontotoc and South Pontotoc high schools.

 

Josh Holt, ATC

 

Holt joined the NMMC sports medicine program in August 2018. A native of Corinth, he earned his bachelor's degree from the University of North Alabama and his master's degree at the University of West Alabama. He obtained his NATABOC certification in December 2000. He previously worked as an outreach athletic trainer in Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi. He also served nine years as the head athletic trainer and instructor of athletic training for NCAA Division II Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn. He currently provides athletic training services to Itawamba Community College.

 

Joel Kennedy, ATC

 

A Starkville native, Kennedy joined the NMMC Sports Medicine team in 2016 covering Tupelo High School and Houlka High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University and his master’s degree from the United States Sports Academy. He previously worked at Gainesville (Texas) High School (2015), H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Fla. (2007-2015), and as a minor league athletic trainer in the Philadelphia Phillies organization (1998-2006).


Mark Porter, ATC

A native of Laurel, Porter is a 1997 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. Upon receiving his national certification, he worked with the Atlanta Falcons for approximately four years. Porter joined the NMMC Sports Medicine staff in 2001 and provides athletic training services for Shannon High School and North Pontotoc Attendance Center.

Michelle D. Pruitt, MS, ATC

Pruitt earned a bachelor's degree in health sciences with a concentration in athletic training from Nichols State University in Thibodau, La., in 2006. She holds a master's degree in exercise science from the University of Mississippi and worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Rebels from 2006 to 2008. She currently provides athletic training services for Mantachie High School and Mooreville High School. She is a certified personal trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Brad Voegele, M.ED., ATC

Voegele is a graduate of Fayette County High school in Alabama and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of South Alabama. He became an ATC in 1995 and worked as a certified athletic trainer in the Cullman, Ala., area until joining the NMMC Sports Medicine staff in 2008. He provides athletic training services for Itawamba Agricultural High School in Fulton and Tremont High School.

Walt Wilkins, ATC

A native of Lineville, Ala., Wilkins attended Mississippi College in Clinton. He attained national certification in 1994 and joined the NMMC Sports Medicine staff in 1996. Prior work experience includes serving as coordinator of sports medicine services for Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson, as a graduate assistant with the University of Alabama and as an ATC for UMS-Wright Preparatory School in Mobile, Ala. He provided athletic training services for Tupelo High School and Houlka Attendance Center until 2003 when he was promoted to coordinator of NMMC's Sports Medicine Program.
