Blood and Platelet Donation

United Blood Services is looking for individuals interested in donating blood or platelets. Through their Apheresis program, people donate platelets to help save the lives of people with cancer. Platelets are the portion of blood that helps control bleeding. Platelet transfusions are vital to successful chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. Unlike whole blood, platelets have a shelf life of only five days and must be constantly replaced, so United Blood Services is in constant need of donors for this special blood product.
