Mississippi native
Charles D. “Chuck” Stokes
joined North
Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo as president July 11,
2005. During that time, he has refined the service line
organizational structure in an effort to reach higher
levels of quality, efficiency and partnerships with the
medical staff and community.
Stokes served as executive vice president/chief
operations officer of Huntsville Hospital in Alabama
from 1999 to 2005. He brings more than 20 years of
executive level leadership in hospital operations,
strategic planning, executive development, physician
relations and quality improvement. |
| It
is his belief that patient satisfaction is driven by
committed employees who are engaged in their work and
professions. |
|
He began his health
career in 1978 at the University of Mississippi Medical
Center and has served in key administrative positions at
Charity Hospital of New Orleans; St. Luke’s Episcopal
Hospital, Texas Heart Institute and Texas Children’s
Hospital in Houston, Texas; Schumpert Medical Center in
Shreveport, La.; and St. Vincent Health System in Little
Rock, Ark. |
| He is a
Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives
(ACHE) and also serves as Faculty for National ACHE
Leadership Development Programs. |

A 1971 graduate of
Yazoo City High School, Stokes earned a bachelor's
degree in nursing from the University of Mississippi
Medical Center in Jackson in 1977. In 1983 he completed
a master’s degree in hospital and health administration
from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. |
