The NMMC Cancer
Center believes that it is our responsibility not only to provide the
highest quality of health care to treat disease, but also to help
improve the quality of life in the communities we serve. We believe that education is the best means for early diagnosis and possible prevention of cancer. Health fairs provide a vehicle for educating the public by offering important cancer information, |
| and our staff is always available to discuss cancer
prevention, detection and the latest treatment options. NMMC's mobile mammography unit travels to area communities and offers easy access to screening mammograms at hospitals, physician's offices, businesses and industries throughout north Mississippi and northwest Alabama. This special community service encourages preventive breast health and early detection of breast cancer. Sponsorship of community events including Camp Bluebird, National Cancer Survivors' Day, Project HOPE and Komen North Mississippi Race for the Cure®, which is an affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. demonstrates NMHS' dedication to raising community awareness in the early detection, prevention and treatment of cancer. |
| In addition, the NMMC Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund benefits from annual events such as the Take A Swing At Cancer golf tournament. The patient assistance fund is used to provide medicine, transportation, nutritional supplements, medical supplies and miscellaneous items for needy patients who are undergoing treatment at NMMC and who meet eligibility requirements. |
