As
an employee of NMMC, you will be encouraged to advance in your
career and to enhance your job performance. As incentive, NMMC has developed several
educational and academic programs designed to help you
grow professionally.
New Employee Orientation A
two-day program designed to familiarize new employee with
NMMC’s mission, vision, operation objectives, philosophy and
employee benefits.
This
program helps NMMC employees become familiar with NMMC
department functions, purposes, values and philosophy. A variety
of speakers and films are used in order to accomplish this goal.
These activities are hosted by the Education Department and/or
the Human Resources Department of the Community Hospitals.
Departmental
Orientation In addition to the two-day new employee orientation program required of
all NMMC employees, you will participate in a comprehensive
departmental orientation program. These programs are designed to
acquaint you with NMMC’s policies and procedures and to
familiarize you with the facilities and equipment.
Continuing
Education Programs NMMC is
committed to helping you meet your CEU requirements. Through
affiliations, NMMC offers approved CEU programs to employees at
all affiliated facilities. The programs are provided in a
variety of topics appropriate for your area of expertise.
Continuing education programs are also provided through
subscription to the Health Sciences Television Network.
Academic
Reimbursement NMMC’s
academic reimbursement program allows employees to advance their
education. You may apply for academic reimbursement after one
year of full-time employment. With the appropriate prior
approval, you may be reimbursed for academic coursework.
Certification
Reimbursement NMMC’s
certification reimbursement program allows employees to pursue
certification in clinical specialties after one year of
full-time employment with the appropriate prior approval. You
may be reimbursed for the examination fee for initial
certifications.
In-service
Programs As an employee of
NMMC, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety
of in-service programs to update your skills, study new
techniques and learn about new technologies which can help you
better serve your patients and customers.
Clinical
Advancement Program
NMMC
believes that all employees should have equal opportunity to
develop to their fullest potential. NMMC advancement programs
are designed to provide clinical staff with opportunities and
incentives to advance in areas of clinical practice.

Scholarships are available on an application basis for
candidates that are not
currently employed with NMMC. They are
provided to a select number of qualified candidates for the
purpose of recruiting highly qualified candidates in
medical/clinical fields of employment at NMMC. Scholarships are
awarded to associate degree and clinical certificate candidates
during the freshman and sophomore years or to baccalaureate
candidates during the junior and senior years.
Eligibility criteria:

Applicants must
be officially accepted into an accredited
medical/clinical program of study and maintain good
standing status with the institution.

Applicants must
submit a transcript of past academic credits
demonstrating a minimum of a 2.5 GPA. Students must
maintain a 2.5 GPA on all academic courses with the
exception of a 2.0 GPA on clinical nursing courses.

Applicants must
submit all required documentation to be eligible for an
interview with the scholarship committee.

Recipients of an
NMMC scholarship must agree to apply for employment with
NMMC congruent with application guidelines. If offered
employment following graduation and achievement of
clinical license to practice, the scholarship recipient
commits to maintain employment in good standing for the
same length of time as the duration of the scholarship.
