North Mississippi Medical Center honored several nursing staff members May 4 with Nursing Excellence Awards.

Jan Starling, RN, received the RN Excellence Award. Starling works for NMMC Home Health and Hospice, and has been employed by NMMC for 17 years. She graduated from nursing school at Northeast Mississippi Community College in 1991. She and her husband Joe are residents of Guntown and have two children - Bradley and Sallie.

Sandra Cochran, RN, received the Excellence in Mentorship Award. Cochran, who works at the NMMC Women's Hospital, has been employed by NMMC for 25 years. She graduated from nursing school at Itawamba Community College in 1983. She and her husband Keith are residents of Belden and have three children - Kacie, Karie and Heith.

Arka' Brenna Marion received the Unit Coordinator Excellence Award. Marion has been an NMMC employee for seven years, and she serves in Labor and Delivery at the NMMC Women's Hospital. She is currently pursuing a degree in social work. She and her husband Ketrick live in Plantersville and have four children - Zakiyyah, Tateyanna, Jerry and Jaderius.

Kim Jones, RN, received the Outcomes Improvement Excellence Award. An employee for 17 years, Jones serves as outcomes manager for the NMMC Heart Institute. She received her associate's degree from Itawamba Community College and her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of North Alabama. She and her husband Tracy live in Belden and have three children - Hunter, Laken and Wilson.

Carolyn Webb, CLPN, received the CLPN/LPN Excellence Award. An NMMC employee for 15 years, Webb serves in the nursing resource pool. She and her husband David live in Tupelo and have three sons - Ricky, Shannon and the late Shane Webb, as well as two grandsons, Tate and Taylor.

Becky Dorough of Tupelo received the Excellence in Advanced Practice Award. An NMMC employee for 30 years, Dorough serves as a certified family nurse practitioner at the Garfield Clinic. She received her bachelor and master's degrees in nursing from Mississippi University for Women. She and her husband Tom have three children - Christina, Michelle and Kimberly - and one grandson, Drew.

Ora Gardner received the Nursing Assistant Excellence Award. An NMMC employee for 10 years, Gardner serves in the nursing resource pool. She lives in Tupelo and has five children - Vickie, Robert, Frank, Jean and Debra.

David Wray received the Nurse Technician Excellence Award. An NMMC employee for five years, Wray serves as a restorative technician for Medicine Services. His educational plans are to pursue occupational technician certification. He and his wife Dedra live in Saltillo and have two children - Drake and Dane.

Lana Burnett, RN, of Tupelo, received the Excellence in Education Award. An NMMC employee for 21 years, Burnett serves as a continuing education instructor in NMMC's Education Department. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women. She and her husband Phil have two children - Cody and Luke.

Leigh Anne Puckett, RN, of Tupelo, received the Excellence in Leadership Award. An NMMC employee for eight years, Puckett works for Home Health and Hospice. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and received a master's degree in nursing from Delta State University. She and her husband Rhettford have two children - Peyton and Gavin.

Angela Bryowsky, RN, received the Excellence in Community Service Award. An NMMC employee for 15 years, Bryowsky serves as a nursing supervisor. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of North Alabama. She and her husband Joe reside in Fulton and have four children - Kevin, Chris, Christopher and Joey - and two grandchildren - Kyra and Tanner.
