| NMMC-Eupora, a
not-for-profit company, is comprised of a 38-bed acute care hospital and
a 36-bed long-term care facility. To further rehabilitation after a
patient's acute care stay in the hospital, 10 of the hospital beds are
designated for Swing Bed Care.
One of NMMC-Eupora's greatest strengths is the quality of its medical staff. The medical staff offers specialists in family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, pathology and radiology. Outpatient services include physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, laboratory and pulmonary rehabilitation. Radiology services include echocardiogram, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, mammography, bone density and computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Eupora also offers 24-hour paramedic-level emergency services, outpatient rehabilitation services, a child care/learning center and Wellness Center. The Eupora campus includes Eupora Medical Clinic, which is part of the NMMC system regional medical clinic network, as well as a branch office for NMMC's Home Health Agency. Community residents who join the Wellness Center in Eupora can take advantage of cardiovascular and weight equipment, aerobic dance and exercise classes. Businesses, families and seniors qualify for discounts off the Wellness Center membership fee. In 2003, NMMC-Eupora opened a $10 million expansion project which involves a two-story, 30,800 square foot expansion and renovation of 30,000 square feet of existing space. The new construction provided for 38 private inpatient rooms, along with new facilities for admissions, outpatient services, and food and nutrition services. The renovated space encompasses support services as well as some clinical services. Eupora also recognizes the importance of promoting good health through education. Community outreach projects include informative health seminars, inexpensive immunizations and health screenings. A variety of classes cover such topics as CPR, first aid, heart health, cancer and diabetes education, nutrition and others. While some programs are sponsored solely by Eupora, others reflect collaborative efforts with other interested parties -- such as employers, schools and organizations.
