Serving
our
community through physician training and recruitment
| The Family Medicine
Residency Center is located on the hospital campus, a short distance
from the main hospital. The center consists of 15
up-to-date exam rooms each equipped with a computer. A laboratory, x-ray
facilities and two procedure rooms are available for resident training. The patient record is entirely electronic with links
to other components of our health care system. The
Center also includes a conference room, library and
resident office space, designed to enhance educational
opportunities. FMRC is a community-based, unopposed
residency program. |
 |
First-year
residents inherit a panel of patients from the
graduating class to follow
for the three years of residency through patient visits,
hospital admissions, home
visits and extended care facility visits. Faculty
supervision is readily available
and tailored to the resident’s experience and
competency.
|
FMRC staff
members understand the special requirements of residency
training
and are committed to supporting resident training and to
providing excellent
patient care. Ancillary staff includes a Pharm.D., a
dietitian and a Ph.D.
psychologist who work with faculty members to introduce
residents to the concepts
of comprehensive care.
Family medicine residents have access to direct
involvement in a wide variety of
challenging cases as well as a high volume of common
conditions. The NMMC
medical staff provides regular didactic lectures and
supervises required rotations,
as well as personalized elective experiences. Our
physicians welcome family
medicine residents as colleagues and are always prepared
to consult and teach. |
