NMMC-Hamilton,
a not-for-profit hospital, operates a 32-bed acute
care hospital with a four-bed Intensive Care Unit, as well as a
79-bed nursing home and a home health agency in Hamilton, Alabama.
One of
NMMC-Hamilton’s greatest strengths is the quality of its medical
staff. The medical staff offers specialists in family practice,
internal medicine, pathology, pediatrics and radiology.
Outpatient
services include physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational
therapy, laboratory and pulmonary rehabilitation. Radiology services
include echocardiogram, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, mammography,
MRI, bone density and computerized tomography (CT). The Outpatient
Specialty Clinic, which is located on the hospital campus, offers
services such as audiology, ENT, ophthalmology and urology.
The hospital
campus also includes Hamilton Medical Clinic and Marion Medical
Clinic, which are two of more than 30 medical clinics affiliated
with North Mississippi Medical Clinics Inc. in Tupelo.
In 2005,
NMMC-Hamilton opened a $7.5 million expansion project, which
involved a two-story, 32,000-square-foot expansion and renovation.
The new construction provided for 32 private inpatient rooms and a
four-bed Intensive Care Unit, along with new facilities for
admissions, business services, radiology and rehab services.
NMMC-Hamilton
also recognizes the importance of promoting good health through
education. Community outreach projects include informative health
seminars and screenings. A variety of classes cover such topics as
CPR, first aid, heart health, cancer and diabetes education,
nutrition and others. While some programs are sponsored solely by
NMMC-Hamilton, others reflect collaborative efforts with other
interested parties such as employers, area schools and
organizations.
