North Mississippi
Medical Center-Hamilton is a not-for-profit, 32-bed acute care
hospital affiliated with one of the nation’s leading health care
organizations.
NMMC-Hamilton has a
79-bed Nursing Home, a
Home Health Agency
and a Wellness Center in Hamilton, Ala.
In 2005, NMMC-Hamilton
opened a $7.5 million expansion project, which involved a two-story,
32,000-square-foot expansion and renovation. The new construction
provided for 32 private inpatient rooms and a four-bed Intensive Care
Unit, along with new facilities for admissions, business services,
radiology and rehabilitation services.
The hospital campus
also includes Hamilton Medical Clinic and Marion Medical Clinic, which
are two of more than 30 medical clinics affiliated with North
Mississippi Medical Clinics.
Medical Staff
One of
NMMC-Hamilton’s greatest strengths is the quality of its medical staff.
The medical staff offers specialists in family practice, internal
medicine, gynecology, pediatrics and radiology.
Surgery & Intensive Care
Surgeons utilize two
operating suites for a wide array of cases, including general,
ophthalmology, ENT and gynecology. Laparoscopic and minimally invasive
surgery are also available. The Same Day Surgery Unit features 10
designated beds for outpatient surgery patients to rest.
The four-bed
Intensive Care Unit offers invasive and non-invasive monitoring for
medical and surgical patients. The hospital also has 10 certified swing
beds for patients who need extended care.
Emergency & Outpatient Services
NMMC-Hamilton offers
24-hour emergency services. The Emergency Room is staffed by
well-equipped, highly qualified nurses and physicians. Emergency air
ambulance services are readily available for critical care transport
when needed.
Outpatient services
include same-day surgery, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational
therapy, laboratory and cardiac monitoring. Cardiac stress tests and
holter monitoring are also offered.
Rehabilitation Services
The Rehabilitation
Services Department is staffed by registered physical therapists and
physical therapist assistants. The department, which is located inside
the hospital, provides outpatient rehabilitation, acute care, swing bed,
home care and pediatric rehab, among other services. For more

Outpatient Specialty Clinic
The Outpatient
Specialty Clinic, which is located on the hospital campus, offers
services such as audiology, gynecology, ENT and urology. For more

a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Ancillary Services
NMMC-Hamilton’s
Radiology Department is staffed by board-certified radiologists and
technologists. Radiology services include echocardiogram, nuclear
medicine, ultrasound, mammography, MRI, bone density and computerized
tomography (CT). The department is accredited by the American College of
Radiologists and by the Food and Drug Administration. For more

A wide array of
chemistry, bacteriology, blood bank and drug testing is available 24
hours daily in the hospital’s Laboratory, which is Joint Commission
accredited. The lab is also certified by DATIA to perform DOT drug
screen collections. Industrial drug screen collections are also provided
for pre-employment and post-accident testing. For lab information, call

Pharmacy services are
provided to hospital inpatients and employees.
The Respiratory
Therapy Department at NMMC-Hamilton is staffed by Alabama Licensed
respiratory therapists who perform all respiratory support services,
including ventilator procedures, cardiac stress tests and holter
monitoring. The department also offers spirometry testing and pulmonary
function testing for area industries, in addition to providing services
for the NMMC-Hamilton Nursing Home.
Community Outreach
NMMC-Hamilton also
recognizes the importance of promoting good health through education.
Community outreach projects include informative health seminars and
screenings. A variety of classes cover such topics as CPR, first aid,
heart health, cancer and diabetes education, nutrition and others. While
some programs are sponsored solely by NMMC-Hamilton, others reflect
collaborative efforts with other interested parties such as employers,
area schools and organizations.
