North Mississippi Medical Center offers a variety of support groups that give heart patients and their families a forum to discuss personal concerns, issues and feelings. Participants are provided a safe place to share their feelings with others who are experiencing similar situations.
A support group for graduates of the Heart Institute's Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program and their spouses. The group meets Monday through Friday between 5:45 and 9 a.m. at the Cardiac Rehabilitation Gym, a part of the Heart Institute located in the NMMC East Tower. Members may use the facilities and exercise equipment and are assisted by staff members.
The Tupelo Mended Hearts Chapter 97 is a local chapter of The Mended Hearts Inc., a nonprofit organization affiliated with the American Heart Association. With chapters throughout the United States and Canada, Mended Hearts has offered the gift of hope to heart disease patients, their families and caregivers for more than 50 years.
The Tupelo Mended Hearts, comprised of former heart patients and their families, offers help, support and encouragement to heart disease patients and their families. Their motto is "It's great to be alive and help others." Members meet at 6 p.m the fourth Thursday of each month in Room 21 of NMMC's East Tower Education Center, 830 S. Gloster St. Members also publish a monthly newsletter full of current information about heart disease, heart surgery and success stories.
