Important Contacts

North Mississippi Medical Center’s Joint Replacement Center is a special department with a staff dedicated to the care of hip and knee replacement patients. Our approach focuses on patient education and rehabilitation that centers on family involvement and patient group interaction.

The Joint Replacement Center program is part of North Mississippi Medical Center, which was the 2006 recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award - an award based on innovative practices, commitment to excellence and outstanding results in health care. The JRC is on the fourth floor of NMMC-Tupelo, a 650-bed regional referral center that holds the distinction of being the largest private hospital in Mississippi and the largest non-metropolitan hospital in America.

NMMC serves more than 650,000 people in 22 counties in north Mississippi, northwest Alabama, and portions of Tennessee. The Joint Replacement Center successfully performs more than 550 joint replacements every year.

Our Mission

To improve the health of our patients by providing compassionate care through our Joint Replacement Center.

Our Goal

To improve the patient's quality of life and mobility through surgery and the rehabilitation process.

Our Approach

To focus on educating the patient and their family, motivating patients to strive for independence and increased endurance in their mobility after the discharge process.

Focus

The main focus of the JRC unit is your wellness. For example, on the first day after surgery, clothing from home is worn. This makes the individual and group exercise sessions more comfortable. Exercise is started on the first day after surgery and is done twice a day. The occupational therapy department will instruct on how to correctly perform daily activities like dressing, bathing, climbing stairs, etc.
