Joint Replacement Seminars & Classes

Seminar:

A free quarterly educational seminar is offered that covers a variety of topics for the patient who is considering a hip or knee replacement. These educational seminars are conducted by experts from our Joint Replacement Center and last approximately one to one and one-half hour. Betty Thomas volunteer

Betty Thomas of Tupelo has been volunteering at the Joint Replacement Center for three years. She assists with the seminars and classes.

 

 

 

 

 

Pre-operative education class:

An educational class is offered weekly to provide more detailed information to surgical candidates and their family. A nurse will inform the patient about medication changes needed prior to surgery, required clothing for exercise sessions and expected activities on the day after surgery. A member of the physical therapy staff will explain and demonstrate exercises that will need to be started prior to surgery. The case manager will identify needs the patient may have after discharge.
