Karen Koch, Pharm.D., serves as NMHS’ administrator of organizational performance. She was promoted to that position in 2011 after serving as director of the then newly-created Patient-Focused Improvement Department since 2008. Since joining NMHS in 1987, she initiated NMHS’ clinical pharmacy program and served as a director of Clinical Research and the Institutional Review Board.
She is responsible for various patient safety and quality initiatives, including the promotion of a Culture of Safety, reducing hospital-acquired conditions and many others. She also coordinates NMHS’ Baldrige National Quality Award activities.
Koch received her bachelor’s degree from the Rutgers College of Pharmacy in Piscataway, N.J., and went on to get her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She later completed a master’s degree in health administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
