Mark Williams, M.D., serves as chief medical officer for North Mississippi Health Services.
Williams, a board-certified anesthesiologist, joined NMHS in 2009. He was previously senior vice president and chief medical officer for St. Vincent’s Health System in Birmingham, Ala.
He is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in chemistry. He completed his medical training at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He pursued an internship in general surgery, residency training in internal medicine and completed an anesthesiology residency after serving as chief resident, all at the University of Alabama Hospitals and Clinics in Birmingham. In addition, he has a master’s degree in business in administration from Samford University and a law degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Dr. Williams is a member and board chairman of the Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation and has served on the Quality Committee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield. He has been a consultant to large business on health policy and employee health advocacy and is a part-time faculty member of the UAB Department of Anesthesiology.
