GOOD NEIGHBOR GRANT BENEFITS LOCAL FOOD PANTRY
IUKA, Miss.—The Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi is helping North Mississippi Medical Center-Iuka employees be good neighbors in their own community and around the world.
Salome K. Williams, a licensed physical therapy assistant at NMMC-Iuka, received a $250 grant to benefit the Food Depot of Tishomingo County. Williams is a member of Mt. Evergreen United Methodist Church, which helps support the Food Depot in its effort to feed hundreds of area families each month.
Jane Chamblee, director of human resources at NMMC-Iuka, received a $250 grant to benefit the Helpful Samaritan Food Pantry in Iuka. The hospital has also held canned food drives in the past to benefit the food pantry.
Good Neighbor grant funding is made possible through the interest earned on employee contributions to the Foundation. Any NMMC employee who participates in the Foundation's annual giving program may request a Good Neighbor grant, as long as he or she is personally involved with the project. The project must be consistent with NMMC’s mission and be sponsored by a legally registered charitable organization, such as a church or service club. For more information on the Good Neighbor Fund, call (662) 377-3136 or 1-800-THE DESK (1-800-843-3375).
