PONTOTOC, Miss.—Allen Maxey, Certified Dietary Manager and director of Food
and Nutrition Services at North Mississippi Medical Center-Pontotoc, attended
the Second Annual Leadership Training Conference for the Dietary Managers
Association (DMA) in Chicago Nov. 14-15.
More than 30
DMA members attended the two-day seminar. The Dietary Managers Association is
the premier organization for food service managers in long term care,
hospitals, schools, correctional facilities and other institutional food
service settings.
“The opportunity to meet CDMs from other parts of the
country and hear many of their successes was encouraging,” Allen said. “We’re
all busy and can use all the help we can get. The training will help strengthen
the Mississippi chapter.”
The Mississippi
DMA Chapter has more than 220 members and meets several times per year to
discuss the latest food service and management trends and issues. The chapter
also provides other products and services to members within the state. All
chapter activities are run by volunteers such as Maxey, who is the state
membership chairman for the Mississippi chapter.
The
two-day leadership training seminar included topics on communications, member
recruitment and retention, training on specific volunteer positions, volunteer
resources and generational inclusion.
For more information about the Mississippi DMA Chapter or
their activities, please contact Allen Maxey at (662) 488-7658 or by email Allen.Maxey@nmhs.net. The next meeting of the Mississippi DMA
Chapter will be April 27-29 in McComb.
