WEST
POINT, Miss.—Brandy Henson, a clinical dietitian with North Mississippi Medical
Center-West Point, recently achieved Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) status
by successfully completing the Certification Examination for Diabetes
Educators.
Achieving
the CDE credential demonstrates that the health care professional possesses
distinct and specialized knowledge about diabetes.
Henson
joined the NMMC-West Point staff in August 2000. A 1995 graduate of Oak Hill
Academy, she earned a bachelor's degree in dietetics and nutrition from the
University of Mississippi. She completed dietetic internships at the University
of Southern Mississippi and Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, and South
Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. She is married to Richard Henson and
has two children.
Henson does one-on-one
nutrition counseling for hospital inpatients and outpatients, as well as meal
planning and counseling for diabetes patients. She also helps teach the Two-Day
Comprehensive Diabetes Self-Management Program each month.
