TUPELO,
Miss.– Even if you have quit smoking before and started again, North
Mississippi Medical Center’s Freshstart clinics can help.
Developed
by the American Cancer Society, the Freshstart smoking cessation program is
comprised of four one-hour sessions. New classes start at noon Thursday, Jan. 8
at North Mississippi Medical Center Wellness Center, 1030 S. Madison St. and 6
p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8, at Barnes Crossing Medical Clinic, 903 Mississippi
Drive.
Each smoker who joins
will develop an individual plan for quitting. Freshstart teaches skills for
stress management, weight control, assertive communication and exercise to help
ex-smokers succeed. Tactics include positive thinking, alternative behaviors,
one-on-one help, rewards and group support to help participants stop smoking.
The course identifies the pitfalls of relapse and helps participants plan to
prevent it.
To register for
Freshstart or for more information, call 1-800-THE DESK (1-800-843-3375).
