FULTON, Miss.—Residents of Itawamba County are being challenged to a little healthy competition during 2005.
Three local organizations are
teaming together to launch “It’s My Health Itawamba,” a free 12-week program
focused on helping individuals 18 and older learn healthy eating habits and
make lifestyle changes. Sponsoring partners are the Mississippi State
University Extension Office, Fulton Medical Clinic and Itawamba Community
College.
Residents are encouraged to form teams of five
people, which can consist of co-workers, family members and friends. Each week,
at least one team member must attend an educational session and share the
information with the rest of the team.
Registration is due by Jan. 21 at the MSU Extension
Service, 304C Wiygul Street, Fulton, MS 38843.
Participants are required to weigh in between 4-7
p.m. Jan. 25 and noon-6 p.m. Jan. 28 at Fulton Medical Clinic, 1 Medical Park
Drive.
The program kicks off Feb. 1 and
runs for 12 weeks. Program organizers strongly recommend that participants
consult their physician before beginning this program. For more information,
call Ramona Edge at the MSU Extension
Service, (662) 862-3201,
or Amy Brown at Fulton Medical Clinic, (662) 862-5200.
