This week,
we thought we would share some good news with you and return to
addressing your concerns in our next issue. We would like to
discuss our recent employee satisfaction survey results. We have
conducted employee surveys every other year since 1978. NMMC
contracts with Human Resources Services, Inc., based in Fort
Wright, Ky., to conduct the survey and provide us with feedback
regarding our results. The feedback provides valuable
information comparing our results with other hospitals from
across the nation. This allows us to trend over time and compare
our internal data among departments. Having results presented in
this format allows us to identify areas for reward and
recognition and areas where improvement is needed.
How Did We Do?
Two of
North Mississippi Medical Center’s Critical Success Factors are
People (employees) and Service (patient satisfaction). NMMC
believes that employees who are satisfied with their jobs will
in turn provide great patient satisfaction. We are pleased to
announce that on our recent Employee Opinion Survey, 81% of the
employees surveyed responded positively to overall job
satisfaction. This places NMMC at the 93rd percentile,
outscoring 93% of other hospitals that participated in this same
survey. Eighty percent of North Mississippi Medical Center and
North Mississippi Medical Clinics employees responded in the
survey and were asked their opinions on a variety of subjects,
including concern for patient care, contribution to quality of
life, pay, benefits, communication, supervision, leadership,
training and teamwork. Overall, the entire health care system
scored at the 91st percentile making us a top-10 employer.
What is
Occurring Now
We believe
the most important part of the survey process is not the survey
itself, but the feedback the employees receive and the action
taken based on the feedback. Currently, throughout our
organization, feedback sessions are being held with employees to
discuss their responses to the survey. Employees will be asked
to validate the data and confirm key areas they believe are
positive as well as areas they believe we have an opportunity to
improve.
What’s Next
It is
rewarding to realize that the majority of employees are
satisfied and committed to achieving the mission and vision of
this organization. Like any organization, we have room for
improvement and action plans are being developed that will
address the issues and concerns that employees have raised.
Thank You to
Employees
Our purpose
is simple. We want to maintain a high quality workforce and a
work environment that inspires all of us to deliver
high-quality, patient-focused care. We would like to thank our
employees for these outstanding results and for supporting our
mission to continue to improve the health of the people of our
region.
Our next
letter will be published October 10 and will address
questions raised by the community about NMMC.
