Team of Professionals
The team includes members licensed in occupational therapy, physical
therapy and industrial specialization. Other team members whose
expertise can be called upon are dietitians, psychologists and
vocational rehabilitation counselors.
Our Approach
The staff is trained to perform Job Analysis at the work site.
A Job Analysis is a professional analysis of a particular job or task
that includes observing the following factors: work station
design, tools and machines used, length and number of breaks, work
environment, work equipment and materials and ergonomic efficiency.
A Job Analysis provides the therapist
with the data needed to recommend job modifications, develop Work
Conditioning Programs, create preemployment screenings, provide on-site
prevention classes or design specialized programs.
A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)
of the injured employee is conducted to determine the employee's
capability to return to work. Our facility utilizes the Ergoscience
Functional Capacity Evaluation, which uses a scoring system for
determining an accurate level of work and projecting patient abilities
out to an eight-hour day. The evaluation takes three to four hours in a
single day and covers all demands of work defined by the Dictionary of
Occupational Titles (DOT). Individual tasks of the test may be selected
for job-specific testing or post-offer screening. The evaluation can be requested by
any party involved in the client's injury recovery, and recommendations
are given for entering the Work Conditioning Program, returning to work or
a combination of the two.
A physician refers clients to the Work
Conditioning Program. This highly-structured, goal-oriented
rehabilitation program simulates an employee's specific job requirements
and teaches techniques to prevent further injuries. This program may
be set up to include time at work in conjunction with Work Conditioning
sessions.
This can be accomplished through the
following methods:
 |
A client on light
duty status may continue to work while attending the Work
Conditioning Program. |
 |
As physical
capabilities improve, the client may be released by his/her
physician to return to partial duty while continuing with the
Work Conditioning Program. |
These options are available in
preparation for returning the client to full duty status.
