Support Groups

Tuesday

Amputee Support Group meets at noon the first Tuesday of each month at the NMMC Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, First Floor Conference Room, Longtown Medical Park, 4381 South Eason Boulevard, Tupelo.

A Woman’s Place Lunchtime Learning Series is a series of educational programs for women sponsored by the Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi. The programs are held the third Tuesday of each month (except July and December) at First Baptist Church Grand Hall in Tupelo. Lunch is provided for $5 for those who preregister.

Stroke Support Group meets from 5-6 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month in the NMMC East Tower, Room 21. Stroke survivors, their family members and caregivers are encouraged to attend.

The Man-to-Man Prostate Cancer Education and Support Group meets at 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the NMMC-Tupelo Education Center, 830 South Gloster Street.

Diabetes Support Group meets at 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of every other month (January, March, May, July, September, November) at NMMC-Eupora, 500 Veterans Memorial Boulevard.

Diabetes Support Group meets at 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month (except June, July & August) at NMMC-Iuka, 1777 Curtis Drive.

Diabetes Support Group meets quarterly at NMMC-West Point, 835 Medical Center Drive.

Booneville Diabetes Support Group meets at 6 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the George E. Allen Library, 404 West Church Street.

The Compassionate Friends group for families who have lost a child meets at 6 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at NMMC-West Point, 835 Medical Center Drive.

Wednesday

50+ Coffee Club, a social event for people age 50 and older, meets at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday at the NMMC Wellness Center, 1030 South Madison Street, Tupelo.

Thursday

The Weight Loss Support Group meets at 6 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the NMMC Wellness Center, 1030 South Madison. For more information, call (662) 377-SLIM (377-7546) or 1-866-908-9465.

Diabetes Support Group meets at 11 a.m. the second Thursday of each month in the upstairs classroom at the NMMC Wellness Center in Tupelo.

The Multiple Sclerosis Support Group meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the Wellness Center, 1030 South Madison, Tupelo, Classroom 1.

Survivor 101 Cancer Support Group meets at 2 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the NMMC Cancer Center, 990 South Madison, Tupelo.

The Lost Cords Laryngectomy Support Group meets at noon the fourth Thursday of each month at the NMMC Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, First Floor Conference Room, Longtown Medical Park, 4381 South Eason Boulevard, Tupelo.

The Compassionate Friends group for families who have lost a child meets at 6 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month at the NMMC Wellness Center, 1030 South Madison Street, Tupelo.

The Tupelo Mended Hearts Chapter 97, comprised of former heart patients and their families, meets at 6 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month in Room 21 of NMMC’s East Tower Education Center, 830 South Gloster Street, Tupelo.

Diabetes Support Group meets at 5:30 p.m. the last Thursday of every other month in the administrative conference room at NMMC-Hamilton, 1256 Military Street South.

Sunday

The Parkinson's Disease Support Group meets at 3 p.m. the first Sunday of each month at the NMMC-Tupelo Wellness Center classroom, 1030 South Madison Street.

Other

The NMMC Behavioral Health Center offers confidential meetings with a licensed professional counselor by appointment Monday through Friday at the NMMC Behavioral Health Center, located at 4579 South Eason Boulevard in Tupelo.

The NMMC Diabetes Treatment Center in Tupelo hosts a monthly Comprehensive Diabetes Self-Management Program. The class meets from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The same program is offered at NMMC-West Point and NMMC-Eupora.

The North Mississippi Medical Center Women’s Hospital in Tupelo offers several educational opportunities for expectant parents. Classes include Early Pregnancy Class, Preparation for Birth, Preparation for Cesarean Birth, Breastfeeding Class, Grandparenting Class, Lamaze Class, Sibling Class and Infant CPR.

North Mississippi Medical Center’s Women’s Hospital offers an intensive weekend Lamaze course on two consecutive Saturdays every other month. The class meets from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the NMMC Women’s Hospital, 4566 South Eason Boulevard, Tupelo.

NMMC-West Point and NMMC-Iuka offer prepared childbirth classes for expectant parents throughout the year.
