North Mississippi Ambulatory Surgery Center is located in the 589 Garfield building, which also houses the Center for Digestive Health and Digestive Health Specialists, P.A

Opened in 1986, the facility now includes seven operating suites and 24 treatment rooms, and is a joint venture between North Mississippi Medical Center and physician owners. Surgeons perform around 6,000 procedures a year there.

The staff and physicians attribute the Ambulatory Surgery Center’s success to their dedication to work together to make sure patients get the best care.

Specialty procedures include:
· Otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat)

· Orthopedics

· Ophthalmology

· Plastic surgery

The most frequent surgical procedures are ear tubes, tonsils and adenoids, knee arthroscopy, cataracts, dental restorations and carpal tunnel release.

Pre-Op Procedures For Children:
1. Patients should not eat or drink after midnight prior to surgery.

3. For babies, infants and toddlers: bring a bottle of clear liquid (such as apple juice, 7-Up, tea, or Pedialyte). Bottle-fed babies need a bottle of milk or formula labeled with child's name. Toddlers need a non-spill cup. These will be given after surgery.

5. Because of limited space, only two adult family members should accompany the patient the day of surgery. One adult must remain at the Surgery Center until the patient is discharged.
6. Please call (662) 377-4700 between 2:30-4:30 p.m. the day before your child's surgery for your child's arrival time. For Monday procedures, please call the Friday prior. Please note that the arrival time allows time for paperwork and other procedures and is not the time your child will be taken for surgery.

3. Patients may wear make-up unless having facial, neck or dental surgery.
4. Jewelry and contact lenses cannot be worn to the operating room. Patients may leave these items at home or give them to a family member for safekeeping.
