Economic Impact

NMMC’s West Bed Tower Project will:

  • Provide work opportunities for approximately 3½ years
  • At peak, approximately 300 people from architects to bulldozer operators, interior designers to concrete installers and purchasing agents to cabinetmakers will be involved.
  • Total expenditures for fees, testing, materials, labor, furniture and equipment will be $55 million.

Historical Perspective

This is the single largest construction project ever undertaken by NMMC. Cost for adding the East Tower in the 1990s was $44 million. That project included an expansion of emergency and outpatient services on the ground floor and the addition of four floors to house physician offices and outpatient services. The second largest was Project 90 in the early 1990s, which included the addition of an education center with meeting rooms and an auditorium, a food court and dining area, and offices for support services.
