835 Medical Center Drive
West Point, MS 39773
North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point enjoys tremendous support from our community, dedicated physicians and staff, and an affiliation with one of the nation's leading health care organizations. NMMC-West Point is a full-service, 60-bed medical facility. This private, not-for-profit hospital opened its doors in 1985 and continues to grow.
NMMC-West Point's remarkable design was inspired by the history and culture of this charming Southern community. The entire structure is built around a central atrium filled with greenery. Interestingly, this configuration was inspired by a similar architectural idea used to build the antebellum Waverly Plantation House located nearby.
Medical-surgical patient rooms are entered from a foyer area and open onto a private terrace. Rooms are "nested," which means four to six rooms are clustered around each nursing unit. This design reduces walking distance, allows nurses to view several patients from a central point, and provides closer access to medical equipment.
Surgeons utilize four operating suites for a wide array of cases, including general, orthopedic and obstetrics-gynecology. The Same Day Surgery Unit features six rooms for outpatient surgery patients to rest before and after their procedure, as well as two endoscopy suites.
The six-bed Intensive Care Unit offers invasive and non-invasive monitoring for medical and surgical patients. The hospital also has 10 licensed swing beds for patients who need extended care.
The Women's Pavilion provides family-centered maternity services in a homelike environment. Mothers labor, deliver and recover in the same comfortable room. The nursery is equipped to care for healthy newborns as well as provide immediate stabilization of infants requiring intensive care. Childbirth education is available for expectant parents, and breastfeeding assistance is provided.
NMMC-West Point offers 24-hour emergency services at the Level IV Trauma Center, as well as a paramedic-level ambulance service.
Outpatient services include cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs, as well as physical, occupational and speech-language rehabilitation services. Cardiac stress tests and holter monitoring are also offered.
Radiology services include general diagnostic, fluoroscopic, CT scans, nuclear medicine scans, ultrasound, bone density and mammography. Mobile MRI services are also available Monday-Friday.
A wide array of chemistry, bacteriology, blood bank and drug testing is available 24 hours daily in the hospital's Laboratory. Pharmacy services are provided to hospital inpatients and employees.
Respiratory therapists provide 24-hour services as well as perform echocardiograms that are interpreted by local physicians.
In the Sleep Disorders Laboratory, physicians and certified technicians help people overcome sleep apnea, narcolepsy, chronic insomnia and other conditions.
The 14,000-square-foot Wellness Center boasts around 750 members and offers numerous classes for exercisers of all ages and fitness levels. Family, corporate and senior discounts are available.
NMMC-West Point offers a comprehensive diabetes education program that includes classes, one-on-one inpatient and outpatient counseling, and a support group.
The local hospital offers many community programs at the hospital and beyond, including health fairs, educational sessions, trauma prevention at schools, and flu shots at churches and industries as requested.
In addition to the hospital and Wellness Center, the NMMC-West Point campus is also home to several medical practices including Children's Clinic, IMA-West Point, The Women's Group, West Point Medical Clinic and West Point Surgical Associates.
Patient satisfaction and quality of care are important at NMMC-West Point. The physicians and staff work to address patient complaints in a timely manner and to improve the service provided to patients.
