Meet the Nurse Manager: Cathy Nunley, BSN, RN
Cathy’s desire to become a nurse began in 1986 when her husband was diagnosed with leukemia. While her husband was in the hospital, Cathy developed a relationship with many of the nurses who cared for him. She was impressed by not only their knowledge, but the care and compassion they showed them both. Years later, she decided to pursue her career as a nurse. Cathy says the decision to join the NMHS team was an easy one. “This has always been the place everyone in my family chooses for health care. Not only do we provide excellent care, but we really are like family,” Cathy said. “There are so many people that I have grown to know and love at NMMC, whether I met them through work or when they were caring for me or my family. I’ve been to other hospitals, but this is the only place I would ever want to work.”
Cathy and her husband, Tom, have two children and are “bossed around” by their two grandchildren. Cathy enjoys raising cattle and hogs, fishing and spending time with her grandsons. Cathy’s coworkers like to call her “Maw.”
