Meet the Nurse Manager: Kim Thompson, MSN, RN
Kim has been working for NMMC-Tupelo since 1997, except for five years when she lived in a different state. She decided to become a nurse due to her family’s long history with the nursing profession. As she watched her mother care for others, she decided that was the route she wanted to take as well. Kim worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for six years before finishing nursing school to become a Registered Nurse. “When I was in nursing school, I remember feeling lucky because I already worked for North Mississippi Medical Center, a hospital that many longed to work for,” Kim said. “I knew an RN position wasn’t promised even though I was already an employee, so I was thrilled to be able to start my RN journey with NMMC.” Kim recently obtained her master’s degree in Nursing Leadership. “It was definitely a challenge, especially during COVID-19. I encourage anyone to further his/her education. You can do anything you put your mind to, and the possibilities in nursing are endless,” Kim said.
Kim and her husband enjoy spending time with their pets, traveling, shopping, and spending time with friends and family.

Meet the Nurse Manager: April Bell, BSN, RN
Working for NMMC-Tupelo as a nurse has always been a dream of April’s. After working as a nursing assistant during nursing school, she fell in love with caring for others and knew she wanted to bring that passion to life as a registered nurse. “I knew that working at NMMC-Tupelo would help me enhance my skills, learn so many new things and allow me to grow in my nursing knowledge and role,” April said. April worked in the Critical Care Unit before transferring to the Nursing Resource Pool, where she had the opportunity to work on a variety of nursing units. “After a few years in the Resource Pool, I transferred back ‘home’ to the Critical Care Unit. We have an amazing team here in CCU as well as in our other nursing units.”

Meet the Nurse Manager: Brianna Scott, MSN, RN
Brianna decided to become a nurse after accompanying her grandfather to one of his chemo treatments. She thought the experience was so sad and wanted to do something with her life that helped bring joy to others. “I wanted to not only heal my patients’ bodies, but their spirits as well,” Brianna said. Brianna joined the team at NMHS because she loves being able to take care of her family and community.
