Don't Delay Care Out of Fear

COVID art

The number of COVID-19 cases in our hospitals and clinics continue to decline throughout North Mississippi Health Services and are currently some of the lowest we have experienced since the beginning of the pandemic.

Delaying medical care out of fear of COVID-19 can take a toll on your overall health and lessen the likelihood of a good outcome in some situations.

However, to provide ongoing safety to patients and staff, we will remain vigilant by continuing to use safety precautions throughout our system.

Throughout the pandemic, we have learned how to make our facilities safer than they have ever been. The practice of separating COVID-19 patients from other patients will continue for the safety of our patients, visitors and staff.

For the protection of all we serve and those who work here, we will:

  • Continue to follow CDC and MSDH guidelines
  • Stress the importance of wearing a face mask, maintaining physical distancing and washing your hands
  • Educate people on the importance of getting a COVID-19 vaccination
  • Screen employees for COVID-19 through temperature self-checks and daily attestation that they are symptom free
  • Test all surgical patients before admission
  • Adjust visitation guidelines to meet local, state and national guidelines and prevalence of COVID-19

We ask the community to be our partner by continuing preventive measures, such as wearing a mask, continuing hand hygiene and social distancing, and getting a COVID-19 vaccination.

If you or someone close to you has a health problem that needs medical attention, but you have not sought health care, please do so.

We, like many health care providers across the nation, are seeing patients with higher acuity levels. Patients who are postponing care are often sicker and have more complications than those who seek care early on.

Delaying medical care out of fear of COVID-19 can take a toll on your overall health and lessen the likelihood of a good outcome in some situations. Whether it’s an annual wellness exam, a routine teeth cleaning or a health screening, like a mammogram to detect breast cancer or a colonoscopy to screen for colon cancer, please make it a priority to set these appointments.

Please contact your regular health care provider to schedule your appointments. If you don’t have a regular provider and need assistance with an appointment, call 1-800-THE DESK (1-800-843-3375).
