Dr. Perkins completed his medical studies at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was the founder of the North Mississippi Medical Center Sleep Disorders Center, which opened in 1989, and he now serves as medical director.
Dr. Perkins says he felt called to be a physician in high school. “I later saw an important ministry to patients and families in a critical care setting,” he says.
In his spare time, Dr. Perkins enjoys hiking, backpacking and downhill skiing.
Dr. Perkins is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases and sleep medicine. He is also board certified in sleep medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine.
