Judy Brown Named NMMC’s Employee of the Month
TUPELO, Miss.—Judy C. Brown, medical transcriptionist for Health Information Services, was selected as Employee of the Month at North Mississippi Medical Center.
Brown joined NMMC in 1999 as administrative secretary at NMMC-Pontotoc. She transferred to the Tupelo hospital to start work as a transcriptionist in 2006.
She is a graduate of Calhoun Academy and earned an associate’s degree in Business Administration from Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Oxford campus. Brown also completed a medical transcription program through Itawamba Community College’s Tupelo campus.
“The best part of my job is that it is a continual learning experience,” Brown said. “I have always been fascinated with medical terminology, and each day presents an opportunity to learn more in this field.”
Brown is described in her nomination as a proficient and personable employee by coworkers.
“Judy Brown is more than just a coworker, she is a vital part of the transcription program,” one coworker wrote in her nomination. “She has selflessly given of her time to handle our speech recognition program and QA, along with always proving herself to be a knowledgeable resource for everyone. She is a pleasure to work with and is friendly, competent and always willing to go the extra mile.”
“You never see Judy without a smile on her face or an uplifting or positive attitude,” another coworker wrote. “In any situation, she is always looking for the best solution and then is ready to take the initiative to lead the team to victory. She is truly an asset to not only the transcription team and HIS but also to North Mississippi Medical Center.”
Her family includes husband Michael, daughter Ginger Gore and son-in-law Dallas Gore, and two grandsons—Jackson, 9, and Sutton, 6. She attends Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Bruce, where she also serves as a Sunday School teacher.
