NMMC-Iuka, Health Care Foundation Award Medical Scholarships

IUKA, Miss.—Chasity Garrett of Tishomingo County High School and Haley Elizabeth Hammock of Belmont High School have been awarded $1,000 college scholarships from North Mississippi Medical Center-Iuka.

Garrett plans to major in chemistry at Mississippi State University. During her senior year, she was an American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Delegate, city clerk for Magnolia Girls State and an American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation Senator. She also served as Beta Club Secretary and was a member of the National Honors Society for High School. She was a member of the Beta Club, Anchor Club, Student Council, Interact Club, FCCLA and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

She has volunteered for the Tishomingo County Genealogical Society, Tishomingo Manor, Special Olympics, and Tishomingo Middle School Fall Festival, among others.

Hammock plans to attend Mississippi University for Women and pursue a career in speech-language pathology. She was a member of the Belmont marching band from fifth grade until she graduated. She also was a dancer for the Belmont High School Band, beginning in ninth grade.

These scholarships are awarded annually to graduating high school seniors through the Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi. Student applications are reviewed for ACT score, high school transcript, curriculum that pertains to their chosen field, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation and the applicant’s personal statements.
