NMMC-West Point Auxiliary Ambulance Donation
TUPELO, Miss.—North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point Auxiliary members Mary Ann Shows and Mike Booker recently donated new pediatric bags valued at $640 to NMMC-West Point paramedic Ken Poole.
Each bag contains equipment specifically for pediatric patients of various weights and ages.
Paramedics can use the Broselow tape (named for the physician who invented it) which is included to measure a pediatric patient from head to toe, then find the corresponding color coded smaller bag that matches the tape. This allows the paramedic to quickly grab the bag with everything needed— including medication dosages and equipment sizes—to provide care for children of that size, weight and age.
These pediatric bags save paramedics critical time in an emergency. Each of NMMC-West Point’s four ambulances, which includes a new ambulance purchased by the hospital earlier this year, were equipped with the pediatric bags.
