“It is an exciting time to be involved in health care, but only for the courageous,” says Robert D. Boone, FACHE, FMFA, president and CEO of the Medical Fitness Association. “Sweeping changes are in process that will fundamentally change the way our health care system works. With over 80 percent of all chronic diseases being caused by the choices we make – what we eat, how much we choose to exercise, and the lifestyle habits we adopt—smoking, drug use, drinking to excess, etcetera—the country is moving toward the creation of a new level of accountability for the lifestyle decisions made by individuals. Training professionals to help people thrive in this new environment, broadly based in the field of population health, is at the heart of what the Medical Fitness Foundation is about. The Board of Trustees is responsible for providing support and direction for the foundation as it participates and educates practitioners and providers about professionally supervised fitness programming as an important first line tool in managing our health and our nation’s health care costs.”
The Medical Fitness Foundation is a non-profit educational organization representing medically based fitness centers in the United States and 13 other countries around the world.
