Theresa Jenkins Named NMMC’s Employee of the Month
TUPELO, Miss.—Theresa Jenkins, nurse manager for oncology and stroke, was selected as Employee of the Month at North Mississippi Medical Center.
Jenkins joined NMMC in 1992 as a registered nurse in the Oncology Unit. She then transitioned into the charge nurse role for the unit in 1998 and remained as a charge nurse until taking the nurse manager role in 2013.
She is a graduate of Red Bay High School in Red Bay, Ala., and earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Northwest Shoals Community College in Phil Campbell, Ala., in 1991 where she was on the President’s list. Jenkins is currently working toward her bachelor’s degree in nursing.
“The best part of my job is being able to help others on a daily basis,” Jenkins said. In her nomination coworkers described here as a sweet, calming and uplifting employee.
“Theresa possesses a sweet and calming spirit that allows her to interact beautifully with oncology patients, their family members and employees,” one coworker wrote in her nomination. “She is able to allow the patients and family members to be more at ease with her calming voice and sweet personality.”
“Theresa has a great relationship with her staff and consistently exhibits a calm and uplifting demeanor,” another coworker wrote. “She has a heart of gold and is a very compassionate and caring person. Her work ethic reflects to everyone who comes in contact with her.”
Her family includes husband Michael and daughters Stephanie Johnson, 31, and Laura Thorne, 29. She lives in Golden and attends Northside Baptist Church.
