Dr. Barry Bertolet Elected Chairman of NMMC Medical Staff
TUPELO, Miss.—Barry Bertolet, M.D., was recently elected chairman of the North Mississippi Medical Center medical staff for 2017.
Dr. Bertolet is an interventional cardiologist at Cardiology Associates of North Mississippi in Tupelo.
Dr. Bertolet received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Mississippi. He completed his medical studies at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and his internship and residency at the University of Florida Health Services Center in Gainesville, where he also received postgraduate training in adult cardiology. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Vascular Medicine in endovascular interventions and vascular medicine, and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine.
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Bertolet has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards. He was selected and listed in “Best Doctors in America” and has been the recipient of Teacher of the Year awards at the University of Florida and at North Mississippi Medical center. He is also the recipient of the American Heart Association Research Fellowship Award and American College of Cardiology/Bristol Laboratories Travel Award. Dr. Bertolet is actively involved in research, and has over 50 scientific publications on his CV.
Dr. Bertolet is a member of the American Medical Association and the Southern Medical Association, and a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Bertolet is the Vice President of the Mississippi Health Care Alliance, and was actively involved in the design and development of the state-wide STEMI system of care.
Before joining Cardiology Associates of North Mississippi, Dr. Bertolet served as assistant professor of medicine for the Division of Cardiology at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center. He joined NMMC’s medical staff in 1997.
