Felkins Honored with DAISY Award
TUPELO, Miss.—Registered nurse Lisa Felkins of Radiology recently received North Mississippi Medical Center’s DAISY Award for June.
She received a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and a hand-carved stone sculpture titled A Healer’s Touch.
Felkins, who resides in Hamilton, Ala., joined the NMMC staff in 2009 and worked in the Critical Care Unit before transferring to Radiology. She earned her associate degree in nursing in 2000 from Northwest-Shoals Community College, where she served as president of her nursing class. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Felkins was nominated for the award by her supervisor. “During a patient’s recent visit, Lisa found out that the patient and her husband would be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary here at the hospital,” the nomination states. “Lisa organized a celebration for the couple that included a cake, flowers, card and even a top hat for the groom and a veil for the bride. Lisa truly made a difference in this couple’s life and made a lasting impact.”
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. For more information, call (662) 377-3431 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
