NMMC Names Davis Employee of the Month
TUPELO, Miss.—North Mississippi Medical Center has named Selena Davis, RN, of Women’s Hospital as Employee of the Month.
Davis joined the hospital staff in 2001 and works on the Mother-Baby Unit after serving several years in the Nursery. A native of Shreveport, La., she graduated from Caddo Magnet High School there and earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus. She became certified in Maternal Newborn Nursing in 2013 and became a Certified Lactation Counselor in 2016.
“The best part of my job is watching people become parents,” Davis said. “I love helping new parents get to know their little one.”
“Selena is an extremely caring and dedicated nurse who is well respected by all the nurses and physicians that she works with on the Mother-Baby Unit,” her nomination states. She serves as a preceptor and mentor for new nurses, as well as reviews charts and collects data for performance improvement projects. She is an active member of the Women’s Hospital Shared Governance Committee and serves on the breast-feeding committee.
“She truly leads by example and demonstrates to others the true meaning of professionalism,” a coworker said in Davis’ nomination. “Her decisions and actions are always guided by what she believes is best for the patient.”
She and her husband, Brad, have two children—Megan, 21, and Kristen, 13. They are members of Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo.
