NMMC Welcomes New Cardiac Electrophysiologist
TUPELO, Miss.—North Mississippi Medical Center welcomes cardiac electrophysiologist Karthik Venkatesh Prasad, M.D., to the Heart and Vascular Institute medical staff.
Dr. Prasad joins cardiac electrophysiologists Drs. Jim Stone and Karl Crossen. Cardiac electrophysiology is a branch of cardiology that deals with the heart’s electrical system—the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
Dr. Prasad received his bachelor’s degrees in medicine and surgery from J.J.M. Medical College in Davangere, India, and completed residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Mo. He subsequently completed a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Florida in Jacksonville.
He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases, and is board-eligible in cardiac electrophysiology.
Dr. Prasad is married to Radha Devendrappa, M.D., a hospitalist at NMMC. He is fluent in English and three Indian languages (Kannada, Hindi and Telugu). He is also a sports enthusiast, particularly badminton, tennis, volleyball basketball and swimming; likes traveling and exploring new places; and enjoys cooking and trying new cuisines.
