NMMC-West Point Honors Little as Outstanding Employee
WEST POINT, Miss.—Valerie Little, a registered nurse at North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point, has been selected by her peers as North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point’s most recent Employee of the Quarter.
A graduate of Hatley High School, Little completed the licensed practical nursing program at Bevill State Community College in Hamilton, Ala., in 1997 and earned her associate’s degree in nursing from Itawamba Community College in Fulton in 2000. She holds TB certification and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum.
“What I love the most about my job are the patients and their families,” Little said. “I have wanted to be a nurse all of my life. I love helping and taking care of people. Having a patient tell me how good I was gives me great satisfaction.”
Coworkers praise Little as a “fantastic team leader” who frequently helps coworkers with their patients’ needs. “Valerie maintains compassion in her voice and body language in all patient and visitor interactions,” her nomination states. “Valerie has superior nursing skills and varied work experience that can quality her to work in various areas of the hospital.”
She and her husband, Rodney, have two children—a son, Lance Cpl. Briar Little, who serves in the U.S. Marine Corps, and a daughter, Tatum Little. She is actively involved at New Prospect Baptist Church in Aberdeen, where she works with the youth group.
