Pediatric Pillowcase Fabric Donation

TUPELO, Miss.— Evelyn Shumpert of Good Hope M.B. Church in Shannon, Betty Thomas of Blackland M.B. Church in Tupelo and Pauline Goree of Pine Grove M.B. Church in Shannon recently donated fabric on behalf of the North Mississippi Area Field Mission Council to Cheryl Roberson, office coordinator for North Mississippi Medical Center Volunteer Services. The fabric will be used to make pillowcases for pediatric patients.

NMMC Volunteer Mary Ann Tucker started the pediatric pillowcase project in September 2010, and the pillowcases are given to pediatric patients to use during their stay and take home to keep. Suzanne Coggin, who picked up the project the following year, says she works on the pillowcases a little each day in memory of her daughter, Terrie Stanford, who died from a brain tumor in 2010. Darlea Heitger also volunteers to make the pillowcases. The pillowcase project is in need of colorful fabric featuring juvenile prints. To donate fabric, call NMMC Volunteer Services at (662) 377-3131 or 1-800-THE DESK (1-800-843-3375).
