Smith Honored with First BEE Award
TUPELO, Miss.—Certified nursing assistant Brandon Smith of 3 West recently received North Mississippi Medical Center’s first BEE (Beyond Exceptional Expectations) Award.
He received a certificate, a BEE Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and a cake.
A Tupelo native, Smith graduated from Tupelo High School and trained as a certified nursing assistant through Itawamba Community College. He joined the NMMC staff in January 2016. He has enrolled at ICC this fall to begin pursuing his nursing degree.
Smith was nominated by coworkers for the way he took care of a family who was struggling with the impending death of their loved one. “They had a special connection with Brandon. They were sharing their feelings with Brandon, and he sat and listened and comforted them,” his nomination states. “He even went with them to the Critical Care Unit and stayed in the waiting room with them. He truly went above and beyond for this family. We are blessed to have him as a CNA on our unit.”
The BEE Award will now be given to a deserving caregiver each month at NMMC. Nomination forms are available throughout NMMC or at www.nmhs.net/bee-award. For more information, call (662) 377-3431 or email BEEAwards@nmhs.net.
