Allen Steen Named NMMC’s Employee of the Month
TUPELO, Miss.—North Mississippi Medical Center has named Allen Steen as its latest Employee of the Month.
Steen has worked at NMMC for 23 years. A graduate of Aberdeen High School, Steen attended Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville and the University of Mississippi in Oxford, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in 1988.
He is described by coworkers as encouraging and proficient in his work.
“Allen always has a smile on his face and maintains an uplifting attitude,” a coworker wrote in his nomination. “Even in stressful situations, he remains calm, cool and collected and is able to give helpful advice. Allen has a servant’s heart.”
“Allen is always willing to jump into any situation and stand in the gap when there is a need,” another coworker wrote. “He learns new things in his primary work group and learns how to do things in another work group to help out the department. He leads by example and is someone others look to for direction.”
Steen said he enjoys his role in helping patients achieve a good outcome.
“The best part of my job is seeing a smile on a patient’s face as that person leaves the hospital while thanking the staff for all that they have done,” Steen said.
He and his wife Karen have two children—16-year-old Claire and Adrian, 14. They attend Hope Church in Tupelo.
