DeVaughn Named for DAISY Award

TUPELO, Miss.—Registered nurse Alli DeVaughn of the Critical Care Unit recently received North Mississippi Medical Center’s DAISY Award for January 2018.

She received a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and a hand-carved stone sculpture titled A Healer’s Touch.

A Mantachie resident, DeVaughn earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women in May 2017.

She joined the NMMC staff in June 2017. DeVaughn was nominated by a patient’s daughter. “She basically saved my Dad,” the daughter wrote, nothing that DeVaughn caught warning signs early when her father’s condition worsened.

“She has called to check on him when she is off,” the nomination states. “She gets just as excited as we do when he does well. She helps us relay information to needed people and just was so attentive to him.”

The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. For more information, call (662) 377-3431 or email daisyawards@nmhs.net.
