Felks Named for DAISY Award

TUPELO, Miss.—Registered nurse Tasha Felks of 3 South recently received North Mississippi Medical Center’s DAISY Award for March 2018.

She received a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and a hand-carved stone sculpture titled A Healer’s Touch.

A Baldwyn resident, Felks earned her associate degree in nursing from Northeast Mississippi Community College in May 2015. That July she joined the NMMC staff on 3 South.

A coworker nominated Felks for going out of her way for a patient as her shift was ending. “When she was making her last round, one of her patients who had childlike dementia was crying and upset, and asked Tasha for a balloon,” the nomination states. “Tasha left campus to go get her patient what she asked for just to see her smile. Tasha is an amazing RN.”

The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. For more information, call (662) 377-3431 or email daisyawards@nmhs.net.
