McCluskey Named for DAISY Award

TUPELO, Miss.—Registered nurse Joni McCluskey, a charge nurse at Women’s Hospital, recently received North Mississippi Medical Center’s DAISY Award for August.

She received a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and a hand-carved stone sculpture titled A Healer’s Touch.

A resident of Sulligent, Ala., McCluskey earned her associate degree in nursing from Bevill State Community College in Hamilton, Ala., in 2010. She joined the Mother/Baby Unit staff at the NMMC Women’s Hospital in April 2016.

McCluskey was nominated by the husband of a patient who experienced a long labor before delivering their baby girl. “My wife and I were running on 36-40 hours with only one or two short naps,” he wrote. “Joni stepped in to hold and rock our baby so that my wife and I could actually get some uninterrupted sleep. We were so thankful and impressed with Joni.”

The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. For more information, call (662) 377-3431 or email daisyawards@nmhs.net.
