Misty Taylor Named Employee of the Month at NMMC
TUPELO, Miss.—North Mississippi Medical Center has named Misty Taylor, Home Health Agency preceptor and resource nurse, as Employee of the Month.
Taylor has been with NMMC since 2011. She is a Ripley High School graduate who earned an associate degree in nursing from Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville. She is currently working on her master’s degree in nursing.
Taylor said she enjoys the patient care aspects of her job and teaching other nurses to care for patients in the home setting.
“What I love most about my job is taking care of patients in the home,” Taylor said. “Many times our face is the only face they ever see. I also love training nurses to home care. I want to see each and every one of them love home health like I do.”
Taylor was praised by coworkers as a wonderful caregiver and an excellent teacher.
“Misty exemplifies compassion and caring in every interaction whether with clients or employees,” one coworker wrote in her nomination. “She is always willing to go above and beyond to help anyone in need. She has excellent communication skills with each interaction throughout the agency. Misty is very professional and never oversteps her boundaries yet remains focused on patient- and family-centered care. Her responsibilities as a preceptor for new employees are followed through with the utmost perfection. She is a very dependable employee and will step up and lead when a need arises. She leads by example and is a true team player.”
“I believe some people are designed to be teachers. They are given a lot of patience and the ability to explain things to others in a way they comprehend. Misty truly loves her job and her patients,” another coworker wrote.
Taylor and her husband Chris have one child, 17-year-old son Zac. The family lives in Ripley and attends New Life Pentecostal Church.
