NMMC-Pontotoc Salutes Volunteers
PONTOTOC, Miss.—During National Volunteer Week, April 15-21, North Mississippi Medical Center-Pontotoc salutes the volunteers who give freely of their time every day.
Melinda Brandon began volunteering at NMMC-Pontotoc in September 2013 as a way to get to know her new community. She visits residents of the nursing home and helps with snacks, parties, Bingo, games and special events. Brandon says it is a joy to help those in their senior years.
Mary Crane began volunteering when her mother-in-law was a resident at the nursing home. Crane says her greatest reward is “knowing that I might make someone’s day!”
Lela Delaney has been volunteering since 2013. Delaney says she enjoys helping others and providing community service.
Sally Grubbs began volunteering four years ago. Grubbs says it’s a joy to be able to visit with the residents.
Ann Leeper has been volunteering since September 2013. Leeper says she receives joy from helping brighten the residents’ days.
Katherine Young began volunteering at NMMC-Pontotoc in 2000, and Katie Eubank started when her mother was a resident in the nursing home. “I saw the volunteers doing a lot to help the residents, and I just wanted to be part of it,” Eubank says.
