NMMC-Pontotoc to Offer Medical Career Scholarships
PONTOTOC, Miss.—Students interested in pursuing a career in health care are encouraged to apply for a scholarship from the Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi offered through North Mississippi Medical Center-Pontotoc.
The scholarship, worth $1,000, is available to graduating high school seniors currently enrolled at Pontotoc High School, North Pontotoc High School and South Pontotoc High School who plan to pursue a college major in a medical career.
Applications are now available from each school’s guidance counselor. The annual scholarships are awarded through the Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi. Applicants are judged on ACT score, high school transcript, curriculum taken as it pertains to the chosen field, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation and their personal statements.
“We want to encourage students in our area to consider medical careers. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in health care,” said Marie Barnes, director of Human Resources at NMMC-Pontotoc.
